On Saturday, February 11th, 2017 the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) invites writers to learn how to capture a reader’s attention and make the best first impression with “How to Hook An Agent/Editor With Your Opening Pages, taught by Amaryah Orenstein, founder and agent of GO Literary.”
From 1:00PM to 4:00PM, attendees will learn just how imperative the first few pages of writing really are to the agent or editor. Students will investigate the pros and cons of using a prologue as the opening chapter of a novel, as well as the best ways to grab the reader’s attention and how to avoid using the cliché and stale introductions that might ultimately lead to rejection. There’s only one chance to make a first impression, so don’t miss out on expert advice sure to spark interest in the reader’s eyes!
Please submit the first ten pages in advance and bring a copy to class, as this is sure to stimulate a rewarding discussion and encourage healthy critique for all involved!
For more information or to secure a spot in the class, please visit www.bcae.org or call the BCAE at (617) 267-4430.
