The Makanda Project begins its 2018 summer concert series at First Church in Roxbury. Legendary guitarist Michael Gregory Jackson will join the group, and the performance will include some of Mr. Jackson's compositions as arranged for big band by Makanda Project leader John Kordalewski. The community event will include food, activities for children, vendors, and other features. Kurtis Rivers, Lee Odom, Sean Berry, Jason Robinson, Charlie Kohlhase - saxophones; Haneef Nelson, Phil Grenadier - trumpets; Ku-umba Frank Lacy, Alfred Patterson, Bill Lowe - trombones; John Kordalewski - piano; John Lockwood - bass; Yoron Israel - drums.
