The Berklee Indian Ensemble is one of Berklee's largest and most diverse ensembles. Founded in 2011 by Annette Philip, the group has become home to musicians from more than 42 countries, performing Hindustani (North Indian classical), Carnatic (South Indian classical), folk, Sufi, Indo-jazz, and original compositions.
The Berklee Indian Ensemble presents stories and songs based on shared human experience in a concert titled Bridges, covering themes of love, sadness, nature, longing, and joy, interpreted by an ensemble with students from Ecuador, Spain, China, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Nigeria, the United States, and India.
Repertoire will span Indian classical (both Hindustani and Carnatic elements), folk music, contemporary Indian music, and experimental global jazz influences, including the premiere of student originals.
