Woooooooo Spark in the Dark! BIDA welcomes you to join us for a fabulous Friday evening, January 19th, at the Somerville Armory, at 191 Highland Ave, Somerville MA.
Incredible Lisa Greenleaf will call some hip, sweet dances to a-maaazing music by Buddy System (Julie Vallimont and Noah VanNorstrand) with special guests Andrew VanNorstrand and Chris Miller. Chyeah!
The dance will run from 7:30-10:30 pm. If you are new to contra dancing, come a little early and ask to join in a beginner workshop at 7:15 to get yourself oriented before all the beats ddddrop.
This is a special contra dance with live electronic-acoustic music and club lighting (glowy clothes are fun!). As always, BIDA is an inclusive community and everyone is welcome.
The Somerville Armory is a beautiful, airconditioned (!) space with a balcony and cafe that houses the Center for the Arts, and a weekly farmer's market, and a bunch of other great community events. We love it here! It is a 15 minute walk from Davis Square on the Red Line, and several buslines run by it. There is a bike rack, and a free parking lot (!!) and overflow spaces also available, deets: www.artsatthearmory.org/about/getting-here/
We highly encourage public transit and carpooling -- feel free to start a carpool thread in the comments below! Admission will be $7 - $15 sliding scale.
If you are interested in volunteering and getting in for free and making this whole thing possible, we always need **lots** of hands to get the extra **sparkle** ready for Spark. Stay tuned for a volunteer post! See you there!
