Join us for July's Poetry Night at Hale! The evening will begin with an open mic and end with a set by a featured poet.
Katya Zinn will be our featured poet. Whether you choose to share your own poetry, story, or simply appreciate the work of others, this is sure to be an exciting night of spoken word. The event starts with an open mic and concludes with the featured poet. Poetry Nights at Hale are ideal for ages 16+ but younger poets and listeners are welcome if they're accompanied by parents or guardians. Light refreshments will be available. Parking and the event are at Hale's Andrew Cucchiara Learning Center barn.
Poetry Nights at Hale and other programs coordinated by Hale’s artist-in-residence are made possible by the generosity of The Margaret Stewart Lindsay Foundation.
Katya Zinn’s first chapbook-length collection of poems, human verses, was released by Finishing Line Press in March 2021. Her first full-length collection of stories, essays, and poems, Manic-depressive Pixie Dream Girl, dropped this June from Game Over Books. Zinn won the Selase Williams Social Activism Through the Arts Award, first place in the 2019 Words Aloud International poetry contest, and (most importantly) “Bestest Teacher in the Universe” according to a crayon certificate in her wallet. As a teaching artist and equity director of a children's education nonprofit, she’s currently working on a pilot program to provide free therapeutic arts mentorship for children with disabilities. Zinn graduated summa cum laude from Lesley University in 2019 with a Bachelor's of Science in Expressive Art Therapy. Find her on Twitter, Instagram, and online.
