African Workout with Mcebisi Xotyeni (30 minute Lunch Break class!)

In this class, Mcebisi (also known as Bisi) will give students a great cardio warm-up using African dance movement, guide through a series of stretches and strength-building exercises, and finish by teaching a combination for all to learn. Mcebisi Xotyeni (he/him/his) is a Jean Appolon Expressions company dancer.

Dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome! Please note that entrance to Starlight Square for Monday classes is from the corner of Norfolk Street and Bishop Allen Drive due to the Farmer's Market.



Mcebisi Xotyeni


Mcebisi Xotyeni, of Cape Town, South Africa, is a professional dancer, teacher, and choreographer. He began dancing with the outreach program Dance For All, where he trained extensively in ballet, African, contemporary, and hip hop. He was awarded a full scholarship with Dance For All and eventually began working for the professional dance company iKapa Dance Theatre. He has also worked with leading companies in South Africa such as Cape Town City Ballet, Suede Productions, and Sibonelo Dance Project. He has performed for numerous festivals and has collaborated with international artists for performances and outreach projects. Mcebisi has danced with Jean Appolon Expressions since 2016.
