Greater Ashmont Main Street and Mandorla Music are very pleased to co-present the 2018-2019 bimonthly Dot Jazz Series at Peabody Hall in The Parish of All Saints in Dorchester. Doors open at 7pm and the $15 ticket includes dessert, as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
Our final show of the 2018-2019 series features alto saxophonist Kurtis Rivers and guitarist Alain Pacowski and their quartet. For many years, Kurtis and Alain played one of the best kept secrets in Boston jazz, a Sunday evening residency at Dorchester's Ramsey/Toy VFW Post. Kurtis is a regular member of the Makanda Project, and has played with the Either Orchestra and Salim Washington's Roxbury Blues Aesthetic. Alain splits his time between Boston and New York, and released 'Double A' with Alan Chaubert. The two have played together for decades, first meeting at Wally's in the South End when both played regularly there. They'll be joined for this show by bassist Paul Dilley and drummer Miki Matsuki, the dynamite rhythm team that propelled their VFW residency.
