Juneteenth is the celebration that the formerly enslaved had when finding out about emancipation. It was also a moment when they began thinking more deeply about social justice, civic dignity, and democracy. It is a celebration of political freedom, a holiday that has profound reach across races and cultures. Join us at Copley Square at noon and at Carson Beach at 3pm for food, music, culture, and information.
Speakers include:
– State Rep. Nika Elugardo
– Former City Councilor Charles Yancey

We are coming together in Boston on Saturday, June 19th at Copley Plaza and Carson Beach to celebrate the state's recognition of Juneteenth as an official holiday! With our partners and in collaboration with the City of Boston, we will celebrate Black History and how it relates to our common heritage. Our democracy. Our freedom. The event will take place in Copley Plaza (between the Boston Public Library and Trinity Church). An "after event" will take place on Carson Beach IN DORCHESTER/SOUTH BOSTON. JOIN US THERE TOO!
