Composers in their twilight years form the core of Chameleon Arts Ensemble’s season finale. One of the most exhilarating, colorful, and refined works in his catalog, Brahms’ G Major string quintet is a moving swan song from a remarkable creative life. Ravel’s last chamber work – his Sonata for violin and piano – shatters stylistic boundaries with an infusion of American Blues. Faure’s Piano Trio is a valedictory work of radiant perfection, and Arnold Bax bids farewell to friends with his 1916 Elegiac Trio for flute, viola, and harp. Finally, Elliott Carter gives us an exquisite essay on the passage of time with his Tempo e Tempi for soprano, oboe, clarinet, violin, and piano.
Tickets are $47, $36 or $25 with $5 off for students and seniors. Performances take place on Saturday, May 18 at 8 PM, Sunday, May 19 at 4 PM at First Church in Boston. For more information or to order tickets, please call 617-427-8200 or visit http://www.chameleonarts.org.
