Well, here we are, the last weekend of September. My favorite month for hiking is coming to a close and I want to bring it in with a fun, gorgeous hike overlooking lake Winnipesaukee on Saturday. The weather in central NH is looking like a mostly sunny 75 degrees - perfection!
We'll be hiking the Morgan and Percival loop. Both mountains are on the "52 With a View" (52 WAV) list.
This will be a relatively slower paced hike, with many stops to enjoy ourselves and take in the stunning sunny weather on Saturday. We will be spending a while soaking in the stellar vantage points along the way as well as a nice lounge on both peaks. Anyone into meditation is welcome to practice when we stop at the peaks, and we will have plenty of time to properly unwind and take in the healing environment.
If you are looking to go fast, not take your time enjoying the scenery, or go off on your own, this is not the hike for you!
We'll be making plenty of space to slow down and connect with nature, but we'll also be having plenty of fun - this trail has ladders, caves, and cliffs in addition to the unbeatable views, so you must be comfortable (or willing to face) some heights, scrambling, and a bit of cave-squeezing. Though this is easier than treks like the Franconia Ridge or Cannon Mt, be prepared for 1,500 ft of elevation gain as well.
So in short, fun and adventurous as well as peaceful and spacious. It's a good combo! Hopefully the weather cooperates and this will be a great time. If Sunday's storm decides to arrive early, this will be cancelled. Can't wait!
