Please join us for a special concert featuring distinguished Russian violin-piano duo Alexey Osipov and Oxana Shevchenko. The program will include sonatas by Brahms and Beethoven as well as Stravinsky’s elegant, delightful "Suite Italienne."


Alexey Osipov, violin, currently studies with Svetlana Makarova at the Conservatoire de Lausanne – HEMU in Switzerland. He has participated in many Russian and international music festivals including the Vladimir Spivakov festival in Moscow, Kissinger Sommer International Music Festival in Bad Kissingenand Abu Dhabi Classics Music Program. Osipov has performed in Holland, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and the United States, and has won violin competitions throughout Europe.


Oxana Shevchenko, piano, is internationally recognized as a pianist of outstanding artistry, sensibility, and versatility. She performs as a soloist and as a chamber musician. In 2010, Shevchenko won First Prize at the Scottish International Piano Competition. She has received prizes at other European competitions including Best Accompanist Prize at the Tchaikovsky International Competition, held once every four years in Russia.

The Athenæum's five galleried floors overlook the peaceful Granary Burying Ground, and, as Gamaliel Bradford wrote in 1931, "it is safe to say that [no library] anywhere has more an atmosphere of its own, that none is more conducive to intellectual aspiration and spiritual peace." The building was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1966.
