Hosted by Ayn Inserto, associate professor in the Jazz Composition Department, and David Limina, chair of the Piano Department, the summit’s closing concert presents Global Partner students currently enrolled at or recently graduated from Berklee. The program will feature original pieces in jazz, Latin and other genres composed and/or arranged by musicians including pianist Yotam Ishay from the Rimon School of Music in Israel, laouto player Vasilis Kostas from Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Greece, pianist Joosung An from SJA Music Institute in South Korea, trumpeter Paul Sanchez from Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador, and vocalist Zach Seals from Holland College in Canada.
The concert is part of Berklee's biennial Global Summit – a gathering of the college’s Global Partners featuring speakers, panels and presentations. Berklee Global Partners (formerly the Berklee International Network) has grown into a collective of nearly 50 institutions and organizations around the world since its founding in 1993. Berklee’s academic partnerships with institutions in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, and the U.S., have facilitated a path for more than 2,000 students to attend Berklee since its inception.
