Thirty one years ago I was in Salt Lake City for a month long climbing trip, and I wandered into a University auditorium that had advertised the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. It was spectacular! After the show I went up to the presenter and requested they bring their show to Boston, where I was part of a rock climbing group with the Appalachian Mountain Club. Her response..."if you bring us, we will come to Boston. I had never done anything like that before so of course I said yes! Our first show was at the Somerville Theatre, in a blizzard! 600 people showed up! Some came on cross country skis, some on snow shoes. The take away... you don't cancel a show because of the weather for a mountain crowd! In 30 years we have canceled one show and man did I get yelled at! I no longer climb, but I will always love the mountains. There is much to learn from being up high and away from the world down here. The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour will entertain and educate and entertain! It has become the Premier Mountain Film Festival here in the Boston area. We are a large community of adventurous souls and I'm very proud to bring such a prestigious show to share, and to offer a gathering place for the the like minded. whether you are a seasoned outdoors person or an armchair traveler, you will be welcome here. visit our website and check out all the films!
