Lux et Umbra is a fine art photography studio with a deep connection to nature and the human spirit. Our immersive portrait sessions, workshops and retreats blend photo-taking with explorations of the self and the way we connect with the natural world. We use story and creative visualization to build an unforgettable custom photographic experience for our clients. The portraits that result from a session are more than beautiful pieces of art - they are a timeless testament to the beautiful soul of the subject. Cynthia August, the owner of Lux Et Umbra, has been a portrait photographer for 15 years, an artist for 40 years and a storyteller always. She holds space for her client's journey with joy, tenderness, compassion and love.
