Looking for something different to do with friends and family while supporting a great cause?
Join us on Thursday, June 3rd for YUM: A Taste of Immigrant City, a virtual event celebrating the flavors of Somerville and the Welcome Project’s transformative work with immigrant families. This isn’t just any virtual event. In addition to honoring our local immigrant run-restaurants, you’ll cook along with us and learn to make an authentic dish hosted by one of our featured restaurants. YUM will also be jam packed with information about how to support issues affecting immigrant families in your community. You’ll hear from this year’s honorees, State Representative Christine Barber and Laura Rótolo, staff counsel and community advocate at the ACLU of Massachusetts.
During this pandemic, many of us have been cooking at home more, but also want to support our local restaurants. At YUM, you can hone your at-home chef skills while showing your support for the immigrant-run restaurants that make Somerville great. A login link will be emailed to all participants 2-3 days before the event along with a restaurant discount code providing 15% off on the day of the event to several Somerville restaurants. Delivery is guaranteed the night of YUM but the discount code will be valid through the weekend!
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to get more involved in your community and experience the tastes of Immigrant City.
