Pamela Newman earned her Bachelors of Science degree and Masters degree in Latin American and Iberian Studies at Vanderbilt University. During her time at Vanderbilt, Pamela discovered a passion for yoga and wellness. Pamela has been a student of yoga for over 10 years and she was inspired to teach after discovering the calming and meditative aspects of Yin and Restorative yoga. As a compliment to the more well-known yang (Vinyasa) styles of yoga, Pamela found that Yin helped her to find balance in our busy, heavy and technology based culture.
As a teacher of Yin and Restorative classes, Pamela is able to guide her students to the softer side of yoga offering peace and stillness as a way to balance their busy lives. Pamela encourages her students to grow their physical, emotional and spiritual selves through their quiet strength.
In 2014, Pamela completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program through Boston Yoga School led by Ame Wren. Pamela has continued her education and training and has completed two advanced Power of Touch Mentorship training's with Nicole Clark and Yin Yoga training with Josh Summers. Pamela also completed a 100 hour training, Yoga for Emotional Health, with Soulful Yoga Therapy's founder Kate Graham-LMHC/CYT-500. Currently enrolled in Josh Summer's 300 hour advanced Summers School of Yin yoga, Pamela continues to develop and enhance her offerings as a contemplative and therapeutic yoga teacher.
Yin Yoga balances the more active, robust style of yoga with slower, longer-held poses that target the connective tissues in our bodies — the ligaments, tendons, fascia. The rewards of a yin class include relaxed muscles, freedom in the joints, and a serene state of mind.
