To celebrate Season 3 we decided to have back to back shows! We are very excited to welcome the amazing and versatile JessCX to the House Session family for the second installment of our series. They are a vocalist and visual artist that uses mixed media, collages, and soul music to tell their story. We hope that you join us as we celebrate their artistry.
Artist bio:
JESSCX is a Boston based artist that explores self-identity and Black life through collage, video art, mixed media works, and music. Combining Buddhist principles of mindfulness and presence with West African traditions of story-telling, JESSCX creates work intended to usher all who bear witness to it into states of reverence of the past, understanding of the present, and hope for futures to come.
The Berklee College of Music trained artist exists at the intersection of visual and aural art-making. In 2019 their voice was spotlighted on the debut album of Warner Music Group signed rapper IDK, titled “Is He Real?” also featuring Tyler the Creator, Burna Boy, and Pusha T. JESSCX is the curator of the Black History Matters 365: Now and Forever exhibition on view at the Lunder Arts Center’s Raizes Gallery in February 2020.
