Social Innovation is defined as creating new products or services to address social or environmental needs, and today, more and more entrepreneurs and organizations are shaping their business strategies with the common goal of building better communities.
Organizations are quickly realizing the crucial role they play as innovators and change agents in their community, and how the social impact they have translates into how they do business. A business model based on social innovation principles usually involves rejecting the traditional approach of maximizing short-term profits for shareholders and instead, focuses on building an organization that is both self sustainable and socially engaged; a company rooted in the physical communities in which it operates and with greater accountability.
The panel features leaders and professionals from various areas of the social innovation community. They will discuss the role social innovation plays in the business economy, and how it succeeds best when organizations are engaging with the community in various ways. Light refreshments will be served.
