Join us for an evening with local author Katherine Power to discuss her memoir, Surrender: My Journey from Guerrilla to Grandmother, a dramatic journey from anti Vietnam war protestor to being on the run from the FBI for 23-years on their 'Most Wanted list'.
It starts at Brandeis University where Power was radicalised and culminated in a botched bank robbery that tragically leftBoston Police officer Walter Schroeder dead.
Surrender takes you deep into her heart-wrenching fugitive years with her young son and reflects on the weight of carrying such heavy lies, resulting in her eventual 'surrender' to authorities and serving a six-year prison sentence where she found grace and meaning.
As an older woman and devoted grandmother, she reflects on her journey and its lessons—how cultivating inner peace and practicing compassion are the foundation of powerful action for change in the world.
About the Author:
Power completed her Bachelor’s degree through the Boston University Prison Education Program, and earned a Master’s in Philosophy, Ethics, and Writing at Oregon State University.
She lives with her wife in Massachusetts. Her book will be available for purchase and signing.
