Womanimation! is the premier showcase in the United States of international women’s animated short films.


Now in its tenth year, Womanimation! comes to the Boston area on Saturday, June 30th, at the Amazing Things Arts Center in Framingham for a special one-day only engagement.


Exhibiting a select program of twelve short films from ten countries on four continents, the festival explores styles such as traditional 2D hand drawing, stop motion, and 3D computer animation.


With several US and International premières, and all New England premières, the festival offers a rare chance for local audiences to sample women's animation from around the globe.


Though never longer than 15 minutes, and sometimes under three, the films emphasize well-developed narratives. Themes run the gamut from themes like historical romance, self-acceptance, family relationships, cycle of life, and realms of fantasy.


The festival program will screen at 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 8:00 pm. A slide show introducing the women animators is presented before each screening.


Additionally, before and between screenings, DJ Madame B will weave international soundscapes created by women.
