Experience winter fashion from the early 1800s with costume historian Carrie Midura!

Early 19th-century fashion may be known for its semi-sheer lightweight dresses but how did fashionable women manage to keep warm during New England winters? Join Costume Historian Carrie Midura for an exploration of the hidden layers worn beneath dresses and discover the many options for shawls, coats, and other outer accessories that were available to ward off any winter chills.

This event will take place in the 1793 Carriage House at Gore Place. Masks are required and there will be plenty of room to socially distance. Our COVID-19 safety and mask policy is currently in effect. To view our policy, click here. Masks will be required indoors for all guests ages two years old and up.
