No previous wine knowledge necessary, just enthusiasm and a young-at-heart attitude towards exploring new things. Each day will include a morning activity or lesson, followed by lunch at a local restaurant, an afternoon activity, and a late-day snack. And we'll even have t-shirts! Get Wine Camp on your calendar now!
Activities will take place at our Harvard Square school and at various sites across the Boston area. Maximum 10 campers per day. Covid vaccination required. 21+ only. Daily programming subject to change. Cost includes multiple wine tastings per day, multicourse lunch, snacks, reservations and transportation for off-site locations and activities, and cool swag!
Monday, August 9th: Savor the Flavor Day
Learn all about the wines you like and why you like them! Tastings and activities will focus on aroma, flavor, and texture in wine and how to put words to those sensations. We will take a deep dive into the art and science of aromatic perception, using specially curated scent kits to dissect the flavors found in several grape varietals.
Tuesday, August 10th: Vineyard Field Trip: A Behind the Scenes Adventure at Westport Rivers and Greenvale
Today we'll get an insider's view into two local wineries. It's time to get your hands dirty as we spend time in the vineyards, learning about vine growth, grape production and good vineyard management. We'll also get a behind the scenes look at winemaking and maturation. And of course we'll taste the bounty of our own local industry! Transportation will be provided from Cambridge, or you can meet us there.
Wednesday, August 11th: Italian Day!
Ciao campers! We will have a focused lesson on the wine regions and grape varieties of Italy before we make our way to Boston's North End. There we'll have a decadent lunch and taste some of Italy's spectacular wines. After lunch, we'll take a foodie's tour of the North End, with time to explore on your own if you wish.
Thursday, August 12th: The Wide World of Wine: Grapes and Places You've Never Heard Of
There's so much delicious wine to explore beyond the familiar Cabernets and Chardonnays. We'll focus on grape varieties and regions that have escaped many people's radars, and find some new favorites lurking on store shelves and wine lists. And speaking of new - have you ever wondered how delicious wine is crafted? We will have the opportunity to create like winemakers do, using an assortment of varietal wines to concoct our own unique blends which you can then take home to share with your friends and family.
Friday, August 13th: Made for Each Other: Exploring the Relationship between Food and Wine
Have you always wanted to understand the art of food and wine pairing? Join us today for a gastronomic, hands-on exploration! We'll have a cooking class with a local chef instructor and then sit down to our creations with specially chosen wines for lunch. In the afternoon, we'll investigate relationships between taste sensations and components in wine, and send you home with a thorough understanding of how to make every meal a delicious one.
$550 per day, or $2500 for the entire week of activities.
