Music with a purpose was created by Whitney Marshall, CEO of Sympli Whitney Productionz, LLC in 2021 with the hopes of educating diverse audiences on the history of Black American music and its impact on the world.


Each performance is an interactive and intimate conversation using music to unite and break down barriers that exist within our communities. Powerful performers backed by outstanding musicians, entertain and shed light on the fact that Music is the thread that ties all of us together and, as we experienced during the past couple years, without it, there is a void and unnerving silence that just doesn't feel right.


On December 9th, 2022, SWP's Music with a Purpose series, in collaboration with Hovey Players, will feature the award winning, international singer songwriter Willie J Laws. This show is titled "The Blues 101: Where it all Began". Join Willie and his incredible band as he takes us on a journey through history using his unique delivery of infectious melodies sprinkled with comedic references to the troubled yet resilient history of our nation's love of music.
