See the Eroica Trio perform at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum's Calderwood Hall.
About the performance:
The Eroica Trio makes a long-awaited return to the Gardner with an extraordinary program. Finished in the last year of Schubert’s life, his Trio No. 1 is an intimate and joyful expression of the beauty of being alive. Of this work Robert Schumann said, “One glance at Schubert's Trio (Op. 99) and the troubles of our human existence disappear and all the world is fresh and bright again.” Living American composer Adolphus Hailstork explores darker facets of life and death in his Trio, which opens with a plaintive lament for the victims of the Holocaust.
Performers:
Erika Nickrenz, piano
Sara Parkins, violin
Sara Sant'Ambrogio, cello
The program includes:
Franz Schubert, Trio No. 1 in B-flat major, D. 898 (1827)
John Loeillet (arr. Béon), Sonata in B minor (arr. from Op. 2, No. 6) (1725/1911)
Adolphus Hailstork, Trio for Violin, Cello, and Piano (1985)
