The Gibson House holds the status of being the most authentic single-family brownstone in Boston’s Back Bay and occupies a unique place in its history. Home to three generations of one family and numerous domestic servants between 1860 and 1954, the Museum welcomes visitors from around the globe who are attracted by the house’s social history, architectural significance, and stellar collection of 19th- and early 20th-century decorative arts.
Visitors will be able to explore three floors of the museum on their own. Staff will be on hand to offer insight and answer questions. This is a rare opportunity to visit the museum outside of a guided tour.
The Gibson House Museum is a private, nonprofit house museum in Boston's historic Back Bay neighborhood. Four floors of the house are open to the public. *Please note that tours include several flights of steep stairs, and there is no elevator.
The Gibson House Museum is located at 137 Beacon Street, between Arlington and Berkeley Streets, convenient to both the Arlington Street subway stop on the Green Line and the Charles Street and Park Street subway stops on the Red Line.
