We are excited to take this first step into the virtual realm of offering a Death Cafe during a time in which grief and death seem ever-present. We recognize this is an extremely painful time for many people and we wish to provide an outlet through which people can voice their thoughts about death, dying, and mortality.
Please join us for our first Virtual Death Cafe on Zoom! We will be utilizing the Zoom break out room feature and volunteer facilitators to create intimate and safe spaces for people to talk about death in small groups.
What Is a Death Cafe?
Following the model developed by Jon Underwood (based on the ideas of Bernard Crettaz), a Death Café is an opportunity for people to eat cake, drink tea, and discuss death. The goal is to “increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.”
This is not an end-of-life planning event, bereavement group, or grief counseling. We hope that you will come with an open mind, prepared to discuss the topic of death with strangers in a safe, respectful environment.
Free. Registration required. This talk will be offered through Zoom. Once registration is complete a confirmation email with the Zoom Virtual Meeting Room details will be sent to you.
