Bulgarian-born violinist Dorisiya Yosifova is a passionate musician and teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and a Master of Music from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Dorisiya has performed as concertmaster and principal second violinist with various ensembles, including orchestras at the Boston Conservatory, Oberlin Conservatory, Round Top, and Eastern Music Festival. As a soloist, Dorisiya recently earned two awards in the 2018 “Great Composers Competition” series, including first prize at the international “Best Mozart Performance,” competition, and second prize in the “Music of America” division. Doisiya is currently a student of Rictor Noren, with whom she studies violin and pedagogy. Other primary instructors include Marilyn McDonald and Gregory Fulkerson. Dorisiya enjoys an active performing career in solo, chamber music and orchestra. She is a founding member of the duo femme fuoco, with which she performs regularly, and also plays as a Principal Second Violinist in the newly emerged Apollo Ensemble of Boston. An enthusiastic music educator, Dorisiya currently teaches violin and viola at multiple locations in the Greater Boston area, and maintains a private studio in the Brighton/Newton area in Massachusetts.
