Join us on Thursday, March 3, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with author Thomas Mickey for a talk related to his recent book, All about Flowers: James Vick’s Nineteenth Century Seed Company (Ohio University Press, 2021). Mickey, who has also written on gardens for both the Patriot Ledger and Brockton Enterprise, wrote All About Flowers, about Rochester, N.Y. seed company owner, James Vick (1818-1882) whose recommendations for the American at home gardener remain popular today.
Hear about the love of floriculture and long-time planted flowers, native and exotic, including favorites like dahlia, marigold, nasturtium, geranium, and petunia, that through catalogs and magazines, Vick influenced gardeners all over the nation to plant.
Please note that capacity for this event will be limited and masks are recommended.
This event will be simultaneously live broadcast on QATV channel 9 and can be viewed on our YouTube channel.
