Vesuvio is a dynamic jazz/fusion band made up of five members from different corners of the world: Hana Uwai (Japan) on keys, Angelo Della Valle (Italy) on guitar, Willem Jochems (Switzerland) on drums, Coy Simmons (US) on sax, and Stefan Dresler (Austria) on bass. The group formed at Berklee College of Music under the mentorship of professor Mimi Jones. Vesuvio has quickly gained a following in the music scenes of Boston and New York City. They have played at various gigs and venues including Room 623, Berklee College of Music, and The Red Room.
Just like the volcano, the music is intense, explosive, and capable of leaving a lasting impression. While Vesuvio strives for stark originality with their compositions and arrangements, the purpose of the group is playing music that any single person can relate to, sharing the human experience across borders and genres.
Registration is not required but the limited amount of seating is first come, first served. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Rabb Lecture Hall.
Boston Public Library's Wednesday evening concerts are presented in partnership with Berklee College of Music, and all concerts in the series are sponsored by Bank of America.
