Did you know the federal government provides grant funding for small businesses to research and develop innovative edtech products? The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant program awards entrepreneurs funding ranging from $150K-$1M -- all without taking equity from your company. During this session, WestEd Senior Research Associate, Michelle Tiu, will provide an overview of federal funding opportunities from the SBIR grant program. In addition, entrepreneurs will learn about the value of integrating iterative research activities into their development cycles, and the added value an external research group can bring to your grant proposal.
In this session, participants will learn about:
- The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant program
- Different federal funding sources, including IES, NSF, and NIH
- The grant application process and individual proposal components
- The importance of integrating research into product development
- Benefits of partnering with an external research group
