Urban Sketchers Boston is a regional chapter of the global non-profit Urban Sketchers (http://www.urbansketchers.org/)
The group meets weekly (usually either Saturday or Sunday) for 2 hours to sketch at a location in or near Boston. All levels and all types of artists are welcome. Most people sketch in a sketchbook with pen, pencil, and watercolor, however we have had people use acrylic, gouache, and even oil paint. Feel free to bring whatever media you prefer.
This Sunday (Sept. 17th), we will be sketching the Bunker Hill / Charlestown area from 1pm - 3pm. Erected to commemorate the Battle of Bunker Hill, the monument was one of the first of it's kind in the USA. The monument resides in the neighborhood of Charlestown, which is the oldest neighborhood in Boston. Many of the surrounding housing is built in the Colonial Style architecture and provides unique vantage points.
We will meet in front of the Bunker Hill Monument gates, opposite Monument Ave. at 1pm. We will disperse to sketch for two hours and meet back at the entrance to share our work and chat. The Bunker Hill Monument can be reached via the Community College orange line stop, or the T ferry that runs from Aquairum to Charlestown Navy Yard. Hope to see you there!
