On Thursday, June 1, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF New England Region will host its annual UNICEF Children’s Champion Award Dinner in Boston. The event will highlight UNICEF’s lifesaving work and pay tribute to individuals who have shown extraordinary commitment to saving and improving the lives of children. This year marks UNICEF’s 70th anniversary of putting children first- each and every child, no matter where they live.
Cellist and UN Messenger of Peace Yo-Yo Ma will receive the Children’s Champion Award for his dedication to making the world a better place for children through education and music. Since 2006, he has worked to expose young audiences to music and promote the work of the United Nations among young people.
Alli and Bill Achtmeyer, U.S. Fund for UNICEF New England Regional Board Members, will be honored with the Helenka Pantaleoni Humanitarian Award for their tremendous commitment to making the world a better place for the world’s most vulnerable children and their families.
UNICEF works in more than 190 countries and territories to put children first, and has helped save more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization. The evening is a celebration of UNICEF’s work, as well as a tribute to the outstanding humanitarians who make our work possible.
