Unearthed Song & Poetry is an open mic series at home.stead bakery & cafe that happens every 3rd Wednesday of the month. Each month we feature a rising musician and poet and encourage any and all poets and musicians to sign up to share 2 pieces of their work. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7:30pm. $4 cover at the door.
This month we are pleased to feature two poets: Stephanie Burt and Anna Ross.
Stephanie Burt is Professor of English at Harvard University and the author of several previous books of poetry and literary criticism, among them Advice from the Lights, Belmont and Close Calls with Nonsense, as well as The Poem Is You.
Anna Ross is a 2018 Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellow in Poetry and the author of the poetry collections If a Storm, Figuring, and Hawk Weather. She teaches in the Writing, Literature & Publishing Program and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies at Emerson College, and is a contributing editor and reviewer for Salamander magazine. Anna lives with her family in Dorchester, MA, where she co-hosts the poetry and music performance series Unearthed Song & Poetry and raises chickens.
Our featured musician this month is Donna Vatnick. Inspired by nature and story-telling, Donna Vatnick blends folk, jazz, bossa-nova, and acoustic styles into her original pieces. Rolling on the waves of change is always challenging; songwriting is a comforting companion for a wandering rower.
