Boston based installation artist Mark Cooper will be creating the first site-specific installation titled Uncertainty for the Roberts Gallery at the College of Art and Design. His installation will open March 18 and run through April 16. Cooper is an internationally recognized artist who was awarded the Foster Prize in 2013 and was recently named a Massachusetts Cultural Council finalist in Sculpture/Installation/New Genres.
Cooper's vision for Uncertainty is to create an immersive experience for the Lesley community and public. The interactive environment is composed of sculpture, painting, ceramics, architectural elements, textiles, and mixed media. Each segment is intended to be in conversation with each other, serving as visual signifiers and catalysts for viewers to find meaning. The forms and images repeat and resonate with one another across media.
Collaboration is an essential part of the process for Cooper, enlisting the suggestions, responses, and ideas of everyone involved in the process: other artists, curators, students, and installers. We are delighted to host this installation at the Lunder Arts Center.
