The Umbrella Arts Center in Concord continues its three-week, hybrid virtual/in-person spring celebration with the launch of the Artfest Art Auction- the Center's largest ever, with more than 55 artists participating.
Diverse items ranging from paintings, sculpture and fiber art to jewelry, woodwork, and a rare bottle of 1989 Chateau Lafite Rothschild wine are up for auction, available for viewing at The Umbrella's Main Gallery by reservation, or online in a new 3D VR-enabled gallery tour.
In-person visits are limited capacity, require reservation online or through the Artfest App, following state guidelines and safety protocols. Starting May 1 and concluding with The Umbrella's virtual gala on May 15 at 9PM, all bidding will be conducted touchlessly via phone or web browser at http://Artfest.WeDoAuctions.com .
Before bidding, you can also "meet the artists" and learn about their in work in behind-the-scenes-videos or in-person at The Umbrella's limited capacity Open Studios outdoors this month. Plus, stop by the "Here Comes the Sun" large-scale collaborative community sculpture installed on the front of The Umbrella Arts Center at 40 Stow Street; thousands of hand-crafted origami doves inscribed with wishes and hero dedications grow and evolve throughout the three-week Artfest.
The auction is part of The Umbrella's Artfest, an expansive series of virtual, asynchronous, and limited-capacity programs combining COVID-modified variations of several annual traditions – the Musketaquid Earth Day and Parade, Open Studios weekend, and the Artrageous Gala, among others - as well as outdoors and virtual performances, public art installations, a Kidstrack, and more.
