Born and raised in India, Jacob William is an electric and acoustic bassist, composer, improvisor, and educator based in Boston. He has worked artists including Joe Morris, Jim Hobbs, Laurence Cook, Syd Smart, and Rudresh Mahanthappa, and Kev Vandermark in jazz, creative improvised, and world music. He has contributed to over twenty albums including three as leader. Jacob studied at the New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, and Wesleyan University. He has taught at Bridgewater State University and at U. Mass. Dartmouth.

In his two decades as an integral member of New York City's improvised music community, saxophonist and composer Tony Malaby has emerged as a wholly unique and singular voice. DownBeat Magazine calls him “a formidably accomplished soprano and tenor saxophonist with enviable tone and an endless font of compelling ideas." Malaby has led ensembles including William Parker, John Hollenbeck, and Angelica Sanchez, and has performed with Paul Motian, Charlie Haden, and Kris Davis’ bands. Tony is also a catalytic force here in Boston, teaching at Berklee College and leadning ensembles including the incendiary Firebath.

Born in Bayamo, Cuba, Francisco Mela came to Boston in 2000 to study at Berklee College, soon joining the faculty. Mela became the house drummer at the legendary Wally’s Cafe, where he developed a concept for his own band, featuring the sounds of modern jazz with the music he grew up with in Cuba. World-renowned saxophonist Joe Lovano hired Mela to join him on three of Lovano’s Blue Note albums. Francisco was also with McCoy Tyner’s trio, and has released five of his own. He is equally at home with the avant-garde, and has performed with William Parker, Cooper-Moore, Brittany Karlson, and Forbes Graham.
