La Divina Commedia, written by Dante Alighieri in the 14th century, is considered to be the preeminent work in Italian literature and one of the greatest works of world literature. The narrative is divided in 3 parts (Cantiche) and it describes Dante’s own travel through the three kingdoms of the afterlife: Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. The theatrical show represents an original, dynamic and involving storytelling of the first Cantica: the extraordinary journey of Dante into the Hell. The great imaginary universe of the Poet, between devils, mythological creatures and famous historical characters, will be told to the audience through explanations, suggestions, anecdotes and merry tales, even celebrating the words of Dante himself.
This play is performed by the visiting theater troupe Gruppo Jobel and will be performed in English.
