TRASH NIGHT, one of Boston’s best underground comedy/film events, is movin' on up to the Brattle for 2014. Once a month TRASH NIGHT selects one F-grade, sub-cult cinematic wonder and unleashes it on an unsuspecting audience – with original video weirdness seeded throughout. This is one of the rare times at the Brattle when audience participation is not only encouraged, it’s required!
THE DIRT BIKE KID (1985) directed by Hoite C. Caston w/Peter Billingsley, Stuart Panking, Anne Bloom [91 mins]
You know what the problem with the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk is? It doesn't have a magical flying dirt bike in it at all. The antagonist is a mean old banker, who’s dead-set on committing property fraud by bulldozing the town’s beloved hot dog-shaped hot dog shack. The kid from A Christmas Story rides about trying to rectify the situation, all while running from cops, outwitting Big Slime’s biker gang, and screaming at his hot-headed, violent dirt bike.
From the VHS box: “If you’re crazy about magic, hot for action, ready for romance and wild about winning… this movie’s for you!”
