Are you looking for a fun, creative way to spend a Sunday afternoon? Why not try making sculpture using disassembled computers and recycled imagery?
Join me while I share my unique method of creating bold, dynamic sculpture. We will be following in the tradition of Picasso, the Surrealists, Louise Nevelson, and Joseph Cornell, who all used found objects in very different ways. You will fall in love with the process of taking apart technology and seeing the variety of incredible and inspiring shapes and materials. You will gain skill in construction and assemblage.
We will:
Use various screwdrivers and power drills to take apart a hard drive.
Use your imagination and ability to see objects as abstract shapes, and make a composition using balance, contrast, scale, and repetition.
Experiment with combining color and pattern with shape and form.
Use Mod Podge to make a collage on a wooden surface.
Learn various methods for attaching parts to wood including epoxy, power drill and screws, dremels to drill holes, and wire.
All materials are supplied including: Wood surface, glue, paper, tools, computer parts, and recycled paper for collage.
