A National Historic Landmark, the 1686 Quincy Homestead is hosting ten public Historic House Tours in the 2018 season on certain Saturdays from 11:00am to 3:00pm, with the last tour beginning at 2:30pm. Tour a fascinating piece of American history: the Quincy Homestead represents construction from three different periods providing an excellent illustration of how architectural styles developed during the Colonial period. The original house dates to 1686. In 1706, extensive additions were made to the original structure and the Homestead did not emerge in its current form until in the mid-18th century.
In your visit to the Quincy Homestead, you can learn more about the members of the influential Quincy family, who lived in the house, and their connection to John Hancock. The Homestead includes antique furniture and artifacts, as well glimpses into the evolution of the structure over time. Come visit, enjoy the beautiful house and stroll through the gardens. Experience the tangible sense of history! Quincy Homestead is owned and maintained as a nonprofit organization by the MA Dept. of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) in public/private ownership with the National Society of Colonial Dames in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (NSCDA-MA), which is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. There is no admission charge for the public Tours, but donations are gratefully welcomed; and private group tours, for which there is a charge, can be booked by appointment.
