TLE's Fitness For Good Fundraising Event Series

Kicking off our event series is TLE's Fitness For Good Fundraiser, a fun-filled event promoting fitness and supporting a great cause. This in-person event will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 12:30-2pm at EverybodyFights – Seaport, 15 Channel Center Street, Boston, MA. All proceeds from the event will be used to provide addiction and mental health screening and treatment for the graduates in our reentry program in Lawrence, MA. The event itself will feature four training rooms of the gym's signature fitness circuit classes that attendees can partake in strength, boxing bags, running, and mitt work and win swag prizes. You can learn more about the event here.

TLE’s Reentry Program

Beauty Career Exploration & Business Start Up Reentry Program at 280 Merrimack Street in Lawrence, MA trains soon to be released and previously incarcerated young adults from Northshore, MA on a beauty skill and helps to place them in permanent jobs in the beauty industry. Over 75% of these young adults have mental health and addiction issues, so the success of our program – and of the students’ future – relies on donations to fund important addiction and mental health services. This holistic approach is the only way to break the cycle and sustain change.

Who We Are

The TLE Center for Urban Entrepreneurship (TLE) is a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization founded in 2015 by Tricia D. Young, MBA, to provide resources and support to those who identify as Black, Latinx, LGBTQ+, have been previously incarcerated, or historically have not had equitable access to the knowledge and means to establish an independent, thriving career and/or business in the beauty and personal care services industry. Our primary mission is to develop a pipeline of beauty microbusinesses that are not only owned and operated by owners who are under-resourced, but that are also perceptibly contributing to the local economies they serve.

TLE is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its leadership, practices, and programs. Of the nearly 360 entrepreneurial businesses that have passed through our programs since our inception, 47% are immigrant owned86% are minority owned, and 77% are female led. Our staff and board are also representative of the population we serve; 40% of them have family members who were incarcerated

Our Impact

We believe that with the right tools and support, more of our beauty professionals and micro-entrepreneurs experiencing these barriers will have the chance to share their talents and skills with the greater local economy, while improving themselves and the community at large. Click here to see how our programs and graduates are making a difference.
