WHERE & WHEN

ABOUT COMMUNITY SKETCHBOOK
The Zone 3 Community Sketchbook, located at The Grove in Allston, is a publicly accessible green space that has been reimagined into a new community asset where people can gather and express themselves artistically.
On Saturday, October 15 we will turn the page on the sketchbook as we gather to make something new. Creatives Tianna Rivera and Nelle Valle will lead hands-on workshops where you will learn the fundamentals of stenciling, large scale paint by number, and the process of creating an art installation from the ground up. Help complete their vision for this next 200 foot mural at the Grove while learning a new creative technique! While you get creative, there will be live music, treats from Blackbird Doughnuts and other fun activities for all ages to enjoy.

Beyond this event, the Community Sketchbook wall will be thought of as an ever-evolving community art wall, where people can leave their mark. There are chalkboards and chalk markers on either side of the murals for our community members to express themselves. We encourage you to engage and embrace this section of the wall!
This is just the second of a series of events that will allow you to learn more techniques and styles from advanced community artists. The wall is an ever-evolving space that will change and evolve from season to season.
Zone 3 is a Harvard-sparked initiative to further activate and energize western ave with creative programs, events, retail experiments, and public art. Since 2015, the Zone 3 initiative has transformed a cluster of formerly under-utilized spaces along Western Ave in Allston into a vibrant hub of creativity and active space for community engagement. The Community Sketchbook builds upon the success of other community-driven art programming at Zone 3 including We All, Art in Print, Aeronaut Allston and Walls on Western.
