THE UNICEF LUNCHEON BOSTON
Wednesday, April 1, 2020
What:
On Wednesday, April 1st, the New England Regional Office of UNICEF USA will host its Inaugural UNICEF Luncheon Boston, highlighting UNICEF’s lifesaving impact and shining a light on the organization’s work to support displaced children all over the world. Funds raised at the event will support UNICEF’s work to save and improve the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children.
The luncheon will feature compelling keynote remarks from Emma Kathleen Hepburn Ferrer as she pays tribute to her grandmother Audrey Hepburn’s legacy of philanthropy as a UNICEF Ambassador and an advocate for child refugees. Awet Woldegebriel, Major Gifts Officer for UNICEF USA in the New York Region will also share his powerful story and personal journey as a former refugee from Ethiopia.
The theme for the event will center around UNICEF’s longstanding work and support for child refugees who have been uprooted from their homes or forcibly displaced by conflict and migrating in the hopes of creating a safer life. The luncheon décor elements will be designed by New England Regional Board Member, Bryan Rafanelli, of Rafanelli Events, and will include interactive installations for guests to enjoy along with a live performance from Alex Ortiz, daughter of former MLB Boston Red Sox player, David Ortiz and Tiffany Ortiz, UNICEF USA New England Regional Board Member.
Why:
UNICEF works in more than 190 countries and territories around the world and has saved more children's lives than any other humanitarian organization. UNICEF believes that every child, regardless of where she or he lives, has the right to a healthy, happy childhood.
Today, 50 million children have been uprooted, fleeing conflict and poverty. The luncheon is a celebration of UNICEF’s work, as well as a tribute to the outstanding humanitarians who make our work possible.
