On Wednesday, May 23, the New England Regional Office of UNICEF USA will host the UNICEF Gala Boston, highlighting UNICEF’s lifesaving work and paying tribute to champions who have shown extraordinary commitment to saving and improving the lives of children. Funds raised at the event will support UNICEF’s work to save and improve the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children.
Lawrence O’Donnell, host of The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC will be honored with the Children’s Champion Award in recognition for his dedication to the children of Malawi through the K.I.N.D (Kids in Need of Desks) Fund. Kerry Swords and Kate Brizius are serving as Event Chairs.
UNICEF works in more than 190 countries and territories around the world and has saved more children's lives than any other humanitarian organization.
K.I.N.D empowers children in Malawi to get an education by providing needed desks to schools around the country and secondary school scholarships for girls. To-date, the program has raised more than $16 million dollars, providing more than 500,000 students with desks, and supporting scholarships for more than 3,000 young women.
Individual tickets range from $1,000 - $5,000, Table tickets range from $10,000 - $100,000
