Join Church of the Covenant and the Kindling Collective for the second meeting of our Lenten Wednesday night series, focusing on the truth beyond our own faith traditions.
On Wednesday, March 7 we will visit a new text study group called "Harry Potter and the Sacred Text" (HPST). HPST started as a group of divinity students exploring how to apply spiritual practices like lectio divina to novels and books outside of a faith tradition. The group has also expanded into a very popular podcast and we encourage you to give it a listen in preparation for this session! (But please note that NO experience with the podcast nor Harry Potter is required!)
To listen to the podcast visit here: http://www.harrypottersacredtext.com/season-four-harry-potter-and-the-goblet-of-fire/
The group centers their gatherings around the question: "What if we read the books we love as if they were sacred texts?" And gathers around the philosophy that "reading fiction doesn’t help us escape the world, it helps us live in it."
Judith Giller-Leinwohl, one of the group's leaders, will meet with us at 6:30 pm to give us an introduction to their group and then we will join their regular weekly gathering from 7- 8:30 pm. We will meet Judith in Rockefeller Hall Cafe at Harvard Divinity School, 47 Francis Avenue, Cambridge MA. (about a 10-15 minute walk from the Harvard T stop).
Please note that the HPST text gathering will last until 8:30 pm that evening so the entire visit will go from 6:30 pm- 8:30 pm.
