From hipsters to beatniks and now back to hipsters, jazz and comedy have had a lovely, racy, long-term relationship. The Comedy Studio and Variety Bar welcome you to celebrate this entertainment power couple with a late night jazz hang after Thursday's comedy show!
No ticket required to attend—just grab a drink, make yourself comfortable, and open your ears to Brett Walberg and Miguel Landestoy!
Internationally recognized musician, Brett Walberg is a Boston based multi-instrumentalist, educator, band leader, and community builder.
With a keen focus on developing new spaces for music and the performing arts to collaborate and thrive, Walberg is constantly deepening and refining his own work while supporting and creating opportunities for others. His own sound channels the masters of Saxophone from Coltrane to Warne Marsh to Joe Henderson, a dark warmth reminiscent of the past with a dynamic and boundary pushing approach to improvisation and story telling firmly pointing towards the future.
Miguel Landestoy is a jazz artist, arts administrator, and music educator in the greater Boston area. Miguel is part of a new generation of Boston musicians whose aim is to strengthen the inter-connectivity of music to the community by co-creating performance opportunities throughout the city. He is currently an administrator at the Community Music Center of Boston, an art non-profit dedicated to providing equitable access to music education and arts experiences.
Special guest, Rick Jenkins, will be doing a stand-up set in between jazz sets!
