The Rare Occasions are a four-piece indie rock band based in Los Angeles, California. The band first turned heads in its native Providence, Rhode Island, when it won the WBRU Rock Hunt, headlined the Summer Concert Series at Waterplace Park, and performed in front of packed audiences at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel and the Met. Meanwhile, they tore through the Boston, Massachusetts, club circuit, building a dedicated following.
The Rare Occasions went on to perform for festival audiences at SXSW and CMJ, as well as opening for international touring acts such as Guster, Dirty Heads, Lupe Fiasco, AJR, and Knox Hamilton. “Dysphoric” received the coveted Song of the Year award in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2014.
Currently, the band is expanding its West Coast presence, establishing itself in Los Angeles. The Rare Occasions recently recorded a new album, set to be released this May, that shows the dramatic development of its expansive style.
RVRCT (Rivercat) is a psychedelic/shoegaze band based in Boston. Its self-titled debut record was released in March 2017, and the band is currently working on a follow-up album, Agave.
