Interactive events offer practice to newcomers and experienced climbers; No equipment or experience necessary
The Phoenix, an innovative and free sober active community, is hosting free rock climbing events at its 54 Newmarket Square location in Boston every Wednesday through Sunday. These classes are available at different times throughout the week and weekend and do not require any cost, equipment, or previous experience to participate. If you would like to participate, the only requirement is a minimum 48 hours of continuous sobriety. Please make sure to arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit to complete the enrollment paperwork.
The Phoenix instructors will teach introductory climbing and belay clinics at every class, while also offering advanced clinics in lead climbing, anchor building, and a gym to crag, as well. The Newmarket Square’s rock wall features 40 top rope stations, 19 lead lines, and almost 1,000 square feet of bouldering space. This is a great event to engage your body while also practicing skills in problem solving, mental preparedness and strength training.
The Phoenix is a nonprofit organization which has inspired more than 36,000 individuals across America to redefine recovery. Through a unique model of leveraging physical activity and social connection, The Phoenix aims to help people heal from substance use disorder and thrive in recovery.
