The Makanda Project, Boston's acclaimed creative big band, again joins forces with renowned saxophonist Chico Freeman, with whom they toured Europe in summer 2021. The program will include some of Mr. Freeman's compositions, arranged by Makanda Project leader John Kordalewski, as well as compositions by Makanda Ken McIntyre. Kurtis Rivers, Paavo Carey, Chico Freeman, Sean Berry, Charlie Kohlhase - saxophones; Jerry Sabatini, Haneef Nelson - trumpets; Alfred Patterson, Sarah Politz, Bill Lowe - trombone; John Kordalewski - piano; Avery Sharpe - bass; Anton Kot - drums.
