The Makanda Project returns to its longtime home at the Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library, which had been closed for a few years due first to renovations and then to Covid. The concert will feature the remarkable bassist Avery Sharpe, best known for having performed with the great pianist McCoy Tyner for over 20 years, and also an important composer and bandleader in his own right. The concert will feature two of Mr. Sharpe's pieces as well as compositions by Makanda Ken McIntyre.
There will be two separate shows, at 7:00 and 8:30. Because of Covid, seating capacity will be limited and reservations recommended. For more information on reservations, visit https://makandaproject.com/upcoming-performances. Masks will be required regardless of vaccination status. The concert will also be streamed on the Boston Public Library's YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/9dBsrbC0jvM
